ABOUT US
SHIVA BEYOND SOUND is a new project on the Croatian music scene, which consists of two prominent Croatian violinist virtuoso, Sho Akamatsu and Ivana Duvnjak Akamatsu.
Exploring the sound possibilities of two violins, Shiva performs timeless classical melodies, Croatian and foreign popular evergreens as well as cult film score themes in arrangements for 2 violins, written for Shiva by the Croatian conductor and composer Igor Tatarević.
Out intention is to present the pure and crystalline sound of a traditional classical instrument in a completely new and unconventional way, to reach a wide audience of all generations and at the same time to popularize modern pop expression using the classical compositional techniques.

IVANA DUVNJAK AKAMATSU
Violin & Sopran
Ivana Duvnjak Akamatsu – violin and soprano, finished primary and secondary violin school in Osijek, in the class of prof. Eva Hühn, during which she won numerous awards at national and international competitions. During her violin studies, she was a scholarship recipient of the city of Osijek.
She graduated in violin in 2009 in the class of prof. Anđelko Krpan at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, and in 2021 she received her master's degree in singing at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, in the class of professor Vlatka Oršanić.
SHO AKAMATSU
Violin
Sho Akamatsu – violin, was born in Osaka (Japan) in 1986. At the age of fifteen, he won a Japanese state scholarship to study violin in Vienna, in the class of the renowned violin pedagogue prof. Leonid Sorokov.
In the same class, he graduated in 2010 at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, after which he enrolled in advanced training in Vienna, also in the class of prof. Sorokova. During and after completing his studies, he won numerous awards at Croatian and international competitions, in the categories of solo violin and chamber ensembles.
IGOR TATAREVIĆ
Piano and arrangements for 2 violins
Igor Tatarević completed his violin studies in the class of prof. Branko Košir, after which he enrolled in conducting studies in the prestigious class of maestro Vjekoslav Šutej, and graduated in 2013 (cum laude) in the class of maestro Uroš Lajovic at the Academy of Music in Zagreb.
He was a member of the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, and since 2003 he has been a professor at the College of Popular and Jazz Music in Zagreb, where he led musicals and stage projects in collaboration with prominent Croatian librettist Ivan Ivica Krajač.
